
June 1-7: The Buzz with Buzzitta
Posted Jun 1, 2026, 8:01 AM Capital Area District Libraries summer events across Ingham County, including the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge kickoff. The Buzz with Buzzitta is our weekly rundown of upcoming free programs at our 14 CADL locations, hosted by Mark Buzzitta. This week: the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge, "Unearth A Story," officially kicks off Friday, June 5 for all ages, alongside more than 200 free programs and events this summer. Featured events: Thursday, June 4, 10:30 am at Dansville Elementary: What do Batman, Spiderman, and Cat Woman have in common? They base their powers on real wildlife adaptations. Learn about wildlife "superpowers" with Howell Nature Center. Friday, June 5, 11:30 am at CADL Leslie: Celebrate the start of Summer Reading with family fun, including goats, dinosaur crafts, face painting, and the Crazy Craig Comedy Juggling Variety Show. The first 80 children to request a Kiddie Kona Coupon receive a free Kiddie Kona Ice. Saturday, June 6, 11 am at CADL Williamston: Live goats from Alpine Crossings Family Farm, games, crafts, and more when you sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge. The first 100 children and teens to sign up receive free Dippin' Dots. Saturday, June 6, 2 pm at CADL Haslett: A Dino Bash with dinosaur-themed games, activities, and more summer reading fun. Find all events and register at cadl.org. Look for CADL in your community this summer, including at the Meridian Township Farmers' Market and the Ingham County Fair in Mason.
