Find Your Joy at CADL During National Library Week

What brings you joy? Maybe it's the quiet focus of getting lost in a good book, the thrill of discovering an author who feels like a conversation with an old friend or finding exactly the resource you needed right when you needed it. This week, libraries across the country are celebrating National Library Week and we're inviting you to find your joy right here at CADL!

National Library Week, April 19–25, is an annual celebration recognized by the American Library Association that honors the many ways libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. This year's theme, Find Your Joy, is something we know is true across all of our locations every single day.

Joy looks different for everyone

For one patron, it was the realization that she'd drifted away from reading and found herself scrolling more than she'd like. She downloaded Libby, one of CADL's free digital borrowing platforms, and found her way back. "I've read more in the past year than I have in the past five," she told us. "It's felt so good getting back to something I love."

For a young girl who couldn't find quite the right book, it was a road trip. Her mom drove her to branch after branch across the district until they found “the one.”

For a family where reading wasn't a habit, it was a summer reading prize that changed everything. One child caught the reading bug, and before long, the whole family had too. They still make going to the library a regular stop.

For dozens of community members working toward citizenship, it's been access to classes, resources, and one-on-one support. For two of them in 2025, it was the moment they achieved it.

The library means something different to everyone who walks through our doors or logs in from wherever they are. And that’s the point.
