From exciting March is Reading Month (MIRM) activities to an array of engaging adult programs, we guarantee you'll feel fortunate with our exciting lineup of events. Prepare to mark your calendar with anticipation as we unveil our exciting lineup of events!
Kids Programming
Embark on a month-long journey filled with exciting storytimes and MIRM activities, ensuring there’s no shortage of opportunities to celebrate literacy with us.
MIRM Scavenger Hunt (All branches) – Get ready for an adventure during Reading Month this March with our scavenger hunt for ages 3-10. Dive into the magical world of books and embark on a journey filled with imagination, fun, and of course, prizes!
MIRM Events - Join us for special storytimes featuring beloved book characters and don’t miss out on CADL Williamston’s Clifford Scavenger Hunt.
Spring Break Events – Spend your spring break at the library and enjoy games, crafts, movies and more.
Literacy Celebration & Stage Show (All branches) – Join us for a fun-filled day of children’s activities and storytelling at the Lansing Mall! Meet beloved storybook characters, receive a free backpack filled with books and rock out to a performance by family musician LEONARDO.
Who Ya Gonna Draw? GhostBusters! (Haslett and South Lansing)– Award-winning artist and Lansing Ghostbuster Ryan Holmes will share fun ghostbusting tales and an inside look at the Ghostbuster equipment manual. Plus, create a take-home paranormal project using simple shapes to create cool ghouls and design your own Ectomobile.
A Musical Alphabet Storytime (Holt/Delhi) – This popular, harmonious storytime series continues with several new instruments, including saxophone, ukulele, tuba and trombone.
Tadpole Storytime (All branches) – Join us at Impression 5 Science Center for a preschool storytime and science activity hour, led by our librarians and I5 staff. Admission is free with your library card or I5 membership card. PLEASE NOTE: space is limited to 12 children with caregivers per session. First come, first served admittance. Families unable to gain admittance will receive free access to the museum for the remainder of the day.
Adult Programming
Are you enchanted by the mitten state? We certainly are! Come join us for a series of events celebrating Michigan's rich history, alongside family history and smart money programs and more.
Opposable Thumbs: How Siskel & Ebert Changed Movies Forever (Virtual)– Award-winning film critic Matt Singer will detail Siskel & Ebert’s rise and their influence on how we talk about movies. Attendees will have the chance to win a $10 gift card to Celebration Cinemas, gift bags with popcorn and candy, and a copy of Singer’s book following the program.
Smart Money Series (Leslie)– We’re partnering with the Leslie Area Chamber of Commerce to present a month-long series of financial planning sessions covering topics such as investing, building and repairing your credit and more.
Family History Series (Downtown Lansing and Virtual) – Join us for a blend of in-person and virtual events, featuring a live panel discussion, insights on kickstarting your family history research, strategies for incorporating oral history into your genealogical journey and much more.
Tip Toe Through the Tulips (Virtual)– Learn about the 95-year history of the award-winning Holland Tulip Time Festival with Gwen Auwerd, Executive Director of the Tulip Time Festival.
Resources for Grades 7-12 (Virtual) – Join CADL staff members for an overview of our free resources for grades 7-12 educators and students, including digital books, tutor.com and more. One SCECH for attending is available!
