Our Biggest Wins of 2021

MS_2019_Mason Public Library Sign.JPGLast year was eventful for CADL Mason, and we are excited to share our success stories!

Youth Librarian Lindsay Anderson was the 2021 recipient of the McConnell Award for Innovation; this award recognized her outstanding contributions to early literacy and building connections with children and parents.

Storytimes are the secret sauce in any great library recipe; Miss Lindsay’s events are magical affairs with puppets, songs, and the occasional ukulele performance. We also took our show on the road with visits to over forty Mason Public Schools classrooms in 2021, as well several well-attended outdoor programs at Rayner Park.

While we love to get out there with traveling Storytime and community events like Down Home Days, where we provided free books via the CADL book bike.

We also continue to work toward improving the library space with our upcoming renovation. CADL and the City of Mason are partnering on this long-awaited project and have finalized design plans and are securing funding from grants and donors, including a $117,000 grant awarded by the State of Michigan Historic Preservation Office!

We are so grateful for the support of our community, partners, and municipalities for this important project. Stay tuned for the next chapter of this historic library in the heart of downtown Mason – our goal is a revitalized, accessible, and welcoming place for our entire community to treasure for years to come.
