The Library is the Best Addition to Your Schedule

Take a deep breath and enjoy the last week of summer before school starts and schedules fill up again.

As you’re filling in your calendar, why not schedule a regular visit to the library? If you have young readers in your family the second Monday of the month (September 9) from 4 - 5 p.m. would be a good time to come while one of our canine friends will be here. Frankie and Ira are champion Great Danes who love to take time out of to visit with kids and listen to them read. Many children find it easier to read to a dog than a person and beginning and struggling readers need all the non-judgmental listeners they can get. The dogs were on vacation in August and will be eager to catch up with their young friends.

You won’t want to miss our Annual Great Library Extravaganza on Saturday, September 14! Each year we celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month by rewarding cardholders with a small prize for coming in and enter them in some drawings. New cardholders get an extra prize, too. All you need to do is drop in while we’re open Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Calling all adult movie buffs – we started a Movie Discussion Group during the summer and are changing the time for the fall.  The group still meets on Monday, but now it will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Call 517-485-5185 for the title to be discussed on September 16.
