Grow With Us

Library Garden May 2018 1.jpgOne aspect of working for the library that I appreciate is that our services are always evolving. While this has always been true – consider how the digital collection has grown over the years – the last two years have challenged us to connect with our communities in new ways. In 2022 we’re adapting by focusing on the outdoors.

I’m pleased to share that this spring the Dansville branch is offering a seed library through the One Seed, One State project. This initiative provides free flower, herb and vegetable seeds at the library from March–May. We hope to expand the project by collecting harvested seeds that can be added to next year’s seed library.

Families are encouraged to join us for Garden Club (beginning on May 12), an opportunity for children to care for the library garden, harvest vegetables, and listen to a story or create a nature craft.

As soon as the weather gets warm enough, the weekly storytime will return to the library patio. Following storytime, families are encouraged to stay and play in the sandbox and on the play structure.
