CADL Welcomes Jenny Marr as New Executive Director

Jenny Marr.jpgFollowing a national search launched in September, the Capital Area District Libraries (CADL) Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Jenny Marr as CADL’s new Executive Director, effective at the end of January 2024.

CADL Board of Trustees Chair, DeYeya Jones, expressed excitement about the new appointment: "Among an impressive field of external and internal candidates, Jenny’s proven leadership, expertise and dedication to transforming libraries into essential community centers stood out from the crowd. Considering staff and community input sealed the deal on our decision and we are confident in Jenny’s ability to steer CADL toward continued success. Thank you to our search committee and all who participated in this process. We’re eager and excited to turn the page toward CADL’s next chapter."

Marr comes to CADL from Ferndale Area District Library (FADL) where she has served as Director since 2017. Additionally, Marr brings a wealth of experience from previous roles as Director of Morrill Public Library in Hiawatha, Kansas, and a foundational career at Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in Midland, Michigan. Marr is an East Lansing native and holds a MLIS degree from Wayne State University.

Upon her appointment, Marr stated, "From growing up in the Lansing area, I have a strong personal connection to our community and am very excited to make a meaningful impact through CADL. My focus will be to actively engage across our diverse and vibrant community, ensuring that CADL’s services are inclusive and celebratory of our collective voices, and foster community connection, cultural enrichment and lifelong learning. I am profoundly grateful for this opportunity and excited to collaborate with CADL’s talented staff and Board of Trustees to lead innovative projects that reflect CADL’s mission to serve and enrich our community's unique spirit and needs.”

CADL Assistant Director, Jolee Hamlin, will continue to serve as interim executive director during the transition. "Jolee’s experience, 18-year tenure with CADL and commitment to our mission made her an ideal choice to serve as interim director these past few months. We are deeply grateful for Jolee’s commitment to CADL and to have such an asset during this next transitional stage,” said Jones.
