A House with Good Bones

In true T. Kingfisher fashion, it’s funny and just a little scary, and then suddenly it’s pretty nuts.

T. Kingfisher is one of my favorite authors, and A House with Good Bones did not disappoint.  One of the best parts about her books is that she always comes up with these quirky main characters who have normal jobs and normal lives, and then just happen to stumble upon truly bizarre occurrences.  Almost like a new genre that could be called “cozy horror.”  The first half of the book is filled with funny internal dialogue, awkward interactions, and the main character just trying to figure out what in the world is happening.  Then you get to the second half where what you thought was the horror of the book will be put to shame.  Overall, it’s more chaotic than truly frightening, and it was really a fun read.
