Gilfillian’s follow-up to his breakthrough album “Love You Anyway” is a delightful journey for a break-up album. The Philly Soul artist rides the line of Rock, Neo Soul, R&B, Blues, Americana, Alternative Country—and I have to say I love the range. I feel like it positively reminded me of artists like Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder (that bass line in “IRL”), Lenny Kravitz (“Black Dog Rabbit Hole”). If you like Michael Kiwanuka, Allison Russell, or Joy Oladukan, you should love this! And if you don’t recognize any of them… run, don’t walk, to find their work too.
