Songs of a Lost World

Worth the 16 year wait...

Whether you discovered The Cure in the 1980s via the radio, cassette tape, record album, or at the dance club -- or are just finding out about them, Songs of Lost World is worth checking out.  I was struck upon my first listen at how, even as they hit the 50-year mark as a band, The Cure’s unique sound remains solid and unchanged.  And at how much the heavy, melodic, deeply reflective, and melancholy tone felt like a sort of balm when the album was released.  It has since won two Grammys in 2026 - Best Alternative Album, and Best Alternative Music Performance for the song Alone, but awards aside this is an album to get lost in, and to appreciate that The Cure, after all these years, has kept their center.
