There are more things I loved about this book than I think I could ever truly include in a review.

First, let's start with the writing. The writing feels like sinking into my favorite most coziest reading spot while late afternoon light streams into my quiet apartment. No matter what was happening in the story, and sometimes, reader, it got quite perilous, the writing itself was a welcome comfort. Everything was so wonderfully vivid, and the world the author has created is the kind you absolutely want to run away to in your daydreams.
I loved the brevity of this story. There was never more on the page than exactly what the reader needed, and it ended at just the right time. So much was left up to the reader but it was never frustrating.
Speaking of which, let's talk about the characters. AR Capetta does something with the main character that I found do delightfully creative I couldn't stop marveling at it for the whole book and it was this: they never once described the main character. We don't get gender, hair color, height, we don't even get age other than they are on the cusp of adulthood (which could mean anything from 16 to like 23 maybe?). Calisto became a blank canvas for the reader to self insert, or to create whatever it was we might imagine. Glorious, brilliant, pat yourself on the back. Aside from our main player Calisto, the other characters were each lovable and compelling in their own ways. They all wove wonderfully into the cozy quilt that was this book.
