Sinners

Instant vampire classic!

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a typical vampire movie. Sinners is definitely entertaining, but it’s also incredibly meaningful. Big concepts such as community, personal autonomy, resilience in the face of oppression, Black culture, and the power of music are explored against the backdrop of the American South in the early 1930s 

Ludwig Goransson is at his best with this soundtrack and Ryan Coogler’s direction brings a level of sophistication to this that elevates the standard vampire story we’re all used to. Every scene is intentional and it's satisfying to watch all the pieces come together. There’s a scene in the middle (you’ll know when you see it) that is one of the most impressive pieces of filmmaking I’ve ever seen. Do yourself a favor and give Sinners a try!
