We live in a world of modern dinosaurs!

Brusatte’s fun yet heavily documented history of the dinosaur’s evolution into birds is a perfect read given our 2025 One Grand Read selection and the 2026 summer reading theme. The jump from Tyrannosaurus Rex to chicken and chickadee is absolutely fascinating. And the side stories of the scientists studying paleontology, evolutionary biology, and even animal behavior and neuroscience are equally engrossing. I was always sold on the theory but, fun fact I didn’t understand: as much as our local heron looks it, birds of today don’t descend from pterodactyls, they really do come down through theropods including the T. rex and Velociraptor. This is a great listen!
