Dragons, and wolf spirits, and nine-tailed foxes, oh my!

In the Tang Dynasty of ancient China, ca. 754, the Department of Demonic Exorcism has just been reopened in the capital city of Chang’an - dark forces are threatening the city and the heavenly demon Mara is nearing its return to the human world. Our main character, Hongjun, a half-demon himself, is sent on a mission to disguise his true nature and join the Department in order to save the city and defeat Mara. However, as Hongjun becomes closer to his fellow exorcists, keeping his secrets becomes increasingly difficult.
I finished this book at 5:30pm on a Sunday and immediately bought book 2 because I didn’t want to wait until the library opened at 10 the next morning to borrow it. This series has humor, adventure, and a smidgen of romance (more starting in book 3). What more can you ask for from a fantasy series?
