You want a genre blend? Look no further!

Agustina Bazterrica came to my attention last year when I read Tender is the Flesh. So, when I heard she was going to have a new book, I immediately placed a hold. 
On the surface this is the story of an acolyte in some sort of religious order and what happens when a new person arrives. On a deeper level, this is a blend of dystopia, horror, and relationship fiction looking at the reasons why we do what we do. 
Bazterrica is great at developing characters while retaining a large sense of mystery and anonymity. She is very descriptive in her writing style - I could almost smell the convent. And I could fully imagine what the acolyte was going through.
