An interesting memoir from a trailblazer in television news
According to Chung over the course of her marriage, when reflecting on her experience in television news broadcasting, her husband, long-time talk show host Maury Povich would often jokingly refer to her as the “Jackie Robinson for Asians.” At first this may sound like an exaggeration, but once readers delve into this audiobook most will realize that this comparison has some validity. In this memoir, Chung shares her journey from the ground floor to the pinnacle of the business. It chronicles the bumpy road she had to navigate as she tried to survive and thrive in the treacherous waters of the competitive world of television journalism, a profession dominated by an often hostile “good ole boys’ network.” I really enjoyed this memoir, and it was a special treat to listen to it in audiobook format because Chung is the narrator.
