One side of a breakup...

Two artists put out albums last year in the wake of a marriage that ended just months shy of their tenth anniversary back in 2023. While I am not interested in picking sides in the split, I will say the album that has stayed with me, the one I’m replaying constantly is this collection by Amanda Shires. It is distinctly ballad-heavy and feels like therapy working through the anger and pain of the split to the final entry “Not Feeling Anything”. “The Details” is probably my favorite song on the album, but I also loved “A Way It Goes,” “Living,” “Piece of Mind,” “Lately,” and the environmental ballad “Can’t Hold Your Breath.” Really, I just loved the whole album.
