Better Living Through Birding: Notes From a Black Man in the Natural World

How observing birds can impact our observations of life.

I have only recently discovered my usual loathing for audiobooks may not be present for nonfiction titles like it is for fiction. (Audiobooks are fantastic, just not normally my cup of tea.) After hearing Christan Cooper speak at an event I worked, and with one nonfiction audiobook under my belt, I decided his memoir should be the second. 

I almost regret it. For I fear he has very likely set the bar to which I will compare every audiobook moving forward. 

It was stunning, both for his story and the way he narrated it so perfectly. I can’t write a better review of the story than the one featured by Jenner Ackerman in the ‘Praise’ section, so I will leave this with one final note – You’re missing out if you read this as a physical book. Generally speaking, but also on some well-timed bird song. Maybe read it outdoors for maximum effect.
