Psychological suspense at its best

During a time when I was low on motivation to read, Rebecca made me want to curl up with a cup of tea and do nothing BUT read. I fear this book has spoiled me for all other suspense stories. It has everything! Mystery, romance, drama, subtle humor, Gothic vibes, twists and turns. The prose is lovely, the characters are well-drawn, and the plot is engrossing, with reveals teased out at the perfect pace. The story is approachable but also replete with meanings and layers for those who like to dig. There’s a reason Rebecca has never gone out of print since its publication in 1938!
