Hawthorne is eviler than everyone because Hawthorne is different. But are they? Are they even evil?
Hawthorne is a frustration but are also so clearly a teenager. They want to break away from a world that stunts their potential. But that world is their mother, who is caring and tries to understand and whose heart continues to be broken by Hawthorne’s decisions.
I don’t want to spoil but I will say this is definitely a classic “don’t judge a book by its cover” trope. So many opinions, but if I say them out loud it spoils the fun. Argh!
My keywords: IDENTITY CRISIS, QUARTER-LIFE CRISIS (if you don’t know, look it up! Popular nowadays), ORGANIZED VILLIANY, FOUND FAMILY, BELONGING.
The art is beautiful. I love the coloring. It is nice introduction to a world and people who could receive even more world-building in the future.
