A haunting, relatable and autobiographical story of a young teen struggling with his place in the world and his mother’s increasingly odd demands in service of her faith. I appreciate the interiority we get of the conversations Corey has with himself as he questions his mom and her god. The muted color palette emphasizes the somber and dreamlike tone beautifully.
