I really enjoyed this historical fiction novel set in San Francisco in the 1950s at the height of the "Red Scare." I learned a lot about that time period through the eyes of Chinese-American Lily. The language used in the book was accurate for the time and really demonstrated the fear and prejudice towards Chinese-Americans and the LGBTQ+ community. I enjoyed this book because the author made me care about the characters and see the world they lived in.
