To many adherents of Christianity, Christmas is a religious observance celebrating the birth of Jesus. However, in America, this annual winter holiday technically fits into three categories. In addition to being a major Christian religious observance it is also considered a federal and cultural holiday. Set in a Chinese restaurant with actors portraying Jewish customers enjoying a festive meal on Christmas day, it chronicles the little-known story of how Jewish immigrants (singers, songwriters, etc.) in the 20th century contributed to the expansion of the holiday from primarily a religious one to a major inclusive American cultural celebration.
