The Other Side of the Rocks

This is such a beautiful little story about going off into the unknown, being transformed in a sense, and returning home--no doubt inspired by the author-illustrator’s own journey of immigration. This story is meditative and poetic, which makes sense as it’s heavily inspired by Rumi’s meditations. The dreamy illustrations draw you into brave little Froggy’s magical world. 
It immediately reminded me of The Hedgehog in the Fog, a Soviet short film with similarly dreamlike animation. It tells the story of a little hedgehog who heads out on a journey through the mysterious fog to visit his friend the bear.
