A soapmaking family business gets surprisingly dirty when there's murder involved...

Mystery is not usually my go-to genre, however I really enjoyed this book! In 1950s San Francisco, recently outed gay cop Evande r"Andy" Mills takes a private job investigating the murder of the matriarch of a soap empire. Andy's out to find the killer-- but might've also found a new family. 

Reading this felt like watching a cozy vintage detective movie with just enough suspense (and queerness) to keep my face smiling and my mind racing. Critics have called Lavender House "Knives Out with a queer historical twist" and I couldn't agree more. I'm excited to read the next two books in the series!
