In his ninth decade and in his final film, Ken Loach released The Old Oak in 2023.  The Old Oak is the name of the remaining pub in a struggling Northeast English mining village. T.J., the pub's owner is nursing old hurts and trying to keep the business alive when a group of Syrian refugees arrive in the community and are met with resentment from long-time residents.
