A far more enjoyable dive into the evolution of animals than my comparative anatomy class at MSU.
This book takes you on a journey starting with the earliest animal life in the sea a mere 560 million years ago and walks you forward through time. It details key species in the history of early animal evolution such as acanthostega and archaeopteryx, before breaking down specimens leading to the evolution of homo sapiens. And while there are of course dinosaurs, you'll also read about dragonflies with a two foot wingspan, eight ton crocodiles, and 43 foot long snakes. The book concludes with a breakdown of several currently endangered or extinct species that are thought to have been harmed by mankind, even though we've been here for such a short period of time. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I would like to put a copy on my own bookshelf.
