Fleabag Season 1

Unique, smart, hilarious, and surprisingly affecting

I love Fleabag so much, I recommend it to any adult who is not deterred by its mature content. Adapted from a one-woman stage play, this TV series breaks the fourth wall so inventively and seamlessly you forget that's what it's doing. Phoebe Waller-Bridge (creator and head writer) is perfect as the lead character, irresistible as a train wreck; Olivia Coleman is also standout in a phenomenal cast. Fleabag may appear at first glance to be nothing more than an irreverent romp, but it truly shines in its themes of grief, friendship, love, loneliness, and complex family relationships. Also important: it’s incredibly funny. (There are two seasons to watch; both are excellent.)
