Willie Nelson’s late longtime keyboardist and sister had been approached by Shires to collaborate on a “Always on My Mind,” but the meeting instead led to a full album of 10 reimagined classics from “Waltz Across Texas,” to “Summertime” featuring Willie Nelson, to “Over the Rainbow.” The album showcases both instrumentalists, along with Shires’ wonderfully versatile vocals. This is a lovely collection of standards and favorites.
