If you’ve ever seen an abandoned house and felt a sense of nostalgia, wondering about the people who once lived there, this book is for you. Here, author and illustrator Sophie Blackall lovingly imagines the experiences of a 14-member family who lived and grew on an early twentieth century New York farm. This book is similar in mood to Blackall’s 2019 Caldecott Medal winner Hello Lighthouse, though in Farmhouse the illustrator incorporates found objects from an actual abandoned farmhouse into her presentation.
