What an intense, emotional ride this took me through. A murder that has affected her niece causes this grieving widow to revisit the place where her late husband and her first fell in love. Walking through her grief, Michaelides opens the reader to the psychological world of Mariana. Becoming obsessed about a professor and his group of female students, Mariana loses all of her perspective as a therapist. As she is overwhelmed with her emotions, she creates the intense environment for anyone involved (especially the reader). The perfect build-up for what might not be the end of the story kept me listening. A pleasant surprise for a person who rarely reads suspense fiction; a must for those who are a fan of suspense fiction.
