Steady

This great Canadian quartet keeps making great music after three decades together.

For well over 30 years, these four guys from Halifax, Nova Scotia--collectively known as Sloan--have consistently churned out smart, well-crafted, and often catchy music--while remaining fairly obscure outside of Canada. 

The four band members (Jay Ferguson, Chris Murphy, Patrick Pentland, and Andrew Scott) are all songwriters and all take turns singing on every album they've ever released. Their music evokes the likes of the Beatles, Big Star, and Lemonheads (to name a few), yet sounds distinctly like Sloan. Their new album Steady is no exception. It's a grab bag of balladry, power pop, and a touch of psychedelia. 

It's amazing how, so late into their career, Sloan manages to keep their music sounding fresh and invigorated. Steady is an appropriate album title.
