Once Upon a Book

When you walk past a book and the cover catches your attention.

A book cover that captures your attention is a great description for this wonderful book about the magic of discovery. At first, I thought this was a new book by Patricia Polacco (yes, her books are highly recommended as well.) We meet Alice as she is wishing she could be away from cold weather and dark dreary days. Then there’s a slight rustle and an invitation. The next thing we know Alice is whisked off to a wonderful adventure. But what does she discover? For classroom use, this story is good to use for writing prompts, learning about habitats, and of course art. Pay attention to her dress.
