Serwa Boateng's Guide to Vampire Hunting

12-year-old Serwa has been hunting Ghanaian vampires with her parents for as long as she can remember. But when a safe house is compromised and destroyed by an obayifo, Serwa's parents are forced to hunt the witch down without her, and must leave Serwa to face her scariest threat ever: middle school. Brown provides a perfect combination of action and adventure, humor and heart, and takes a look at many issues that middle schoolers have to face: friends, family, race, and crushes. The characters are easy to identify with and root for, and the pacing is spot on where you won't want to put this book down; there were so many parts of the story where I had goosebumps and my heart was racing, which doesn't happen a lot. If you enjoy action-packed fantasy, or are a fan of other Riordan Presents titles, Serwa Boateng's Guide to Vampire Hunting is a must-read.
