Cate Blanchett was well-positioned for a 3rd Oscar here as Lydia Tár, a world-renowned conductor. This slow-burning drama by Todd Field depicts her fall from fame in a story that feels very much of our current cultural moment. Masterfully crafted, darkly funny, surprisingly spooky, and carefully composed, TÁR is one of the absolute best of 2022 and was a significant (and deserving) Oscar contender in March.
