Trust is a gift, and sometimes a sacrifice.

This YA mystery drew me in immediately. I am usually not a mystery reader, but the combination of an Upper Peninsula Michigan setting, Sault Ste Marie Chippewa (Ojibwe) tribe culture, history and a protagonist I loved captured my attention and kept me guessing. The characters were unique and fleshed out, but most of all, there was heart at the center of this story. I did not want this book to end and would gladly read this novel again or read another with Daunis. The good news is that Angeline Boulley is writing another novel. Readers of This Is My America by Kim Johnson or Found by Joseph Bruchac should definitely pick this one up, but it’s not just for teens.
