Raw rock and roll from the band years ahead of its time.

The Velvet Underground got it's first break in the mid sixties as sort of a house band for Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable performances. Shortly after the release of their debut album the group severed ties with Warhol and Nico in an effort to become more autonomous. This is the first album post Warhol split and the intention was to create an album that was what they described as "Anti-Beauty". The result is a loud and grating album filled with improvisation and rough edges. This is probably the most love it or hate it record the Velvets made in their short but highly influential career. Fans of smart, loud, and edgy rock and roll should take a listen.
