Have a set of famous paintings really been stolen?

Rushmore McKenzie, an occasional PI, has agreed to look into the theft of several paintings for a famous woman that he knows.  Her name is Louise Wykoff.  She was the young apprentice who posed for the lady in the paintings many years ago.  Do the paintings really exist or has there even been a theft?
