This book really struck me, just moved me, with a theme of love and hope displayed throughout.  Although written as fiction, the characters seem so genuine, coming from all walks of life, just trying to survive.  Set in the Great Depression, one is a witness to acts of kindness, coming together to help each other in times of crisis and suffering. If you like reading stories about orphans, or historical account of the Dust Bowl try this book.
