Gabriel Nemo is a direct descendant of Captain Nemo of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and though Gabriel is much less misanthropic than his famously grumpy forebear, he’s an equally enthusiastic submarine explorer.

In this story, Gabriel’s scientist mother is kidnapped by an evil organization and it’s up to the teenager and his friends to join the fight to free her and bring the malefactors to justice.  There’s a lot to like here.  Whiz-bang gadgetry, creepy cryptid creatures, a multicultural cast, and enough action to satisfy any fan of James Patterson or Anthony Horowitz. 

This is book #2 in the “Young Captain Nemo” series, after Young Captain Nemo.
