To be blunt, sometimes these anthologies of writers talking about writing can feel a bit uninspired. This collection really shines thanks to the format (incisive interviews with the authors, conducted by librarian-superhero Nancy Pearl and her co-author, writer Jeff Schwager), the distinction of the interview subjects themselves and their willingness to open up about their lives and seminal reading experiences. My only complaint is that my books-to-read list has now grown exponentially!
