Haunting and soulful!

I'm not sure how I even discovered Michael Kiwanuka but he’s in hoopla!! “Cold Little Heart” is what drew me in (evidently the song is used in the open credits for Big Little Lies), the title track (which I would have recognized if I could bring myself to watch Ava Duverney’s When They See US) and “Rule the World” both feel like wonderful companions to it—big, soulful haunting melodies and lyrics, but “Black Man in A White World” was a great surprise. This is world-weary retro-soul at its best and I’m very interested to see where he’s headed next. Fans of Bill Withers, Charles Bradley, Gregory Porter, and Ahi take note.
