What does it take to change long-held beliefs?

Megan Phelps-Roper grew up in the Westboro Baptist church, a group known for its rigid, unaccepting, anti-gay beliefs. As a child, she accompanied her family as they picketed soldiers' funerals and national tragedies, claiming that death and destruction were proof of God's anger with what they considered unforgivable sin. As a young adult, Megan became the voice of Westboro on Twitter, engaging critics in discussion of the church's beliefs and attempting to justify its hate-filled message. But through Twitter, Megan is introduced to ideas that cause her to question her beliefs and ultimately leave the church. Megan has used her own change of heart to explore why people hate to let go of their beliefs and how to convince them to accept other ideas.
