“I want a house with a crowded table and place by the fire for everyone…”

This fabulously talented country supergroup is all about paying homage to the women who came before and opening doors for women in music now... letting everyone have a place at the table and by the fire. Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, Maren Morris, and Natalie Hemby form the core of the project—but they also invite on a star-studded crowd including Jason Isbell, Sheryl Crow, Yola Carter, Tim and Phil Hanseroth—with writing credits shared with Miranda Lambert, Ra LaMontagne. The harmonies are amazing, the lead vocals shared and wonderful, and the message is exactly what’s important to me.

The title track is a moving re-working of “Highwayman” with original writer Jimmy Webb’s blessing and help—and though I’ve heard it repeatedly it still makes me tear up. Other titles that specifically spoke to me include “My Only Child,” and “If She Ever Leaves Me” featuring Carlile’s phenomenal range, “Don’t Call Me” which made me laugh out loud, and “Crowded Table” which I quoted above and feels like the theme of this wonder album and collaboration.
