Band of Gypsys

Jimi Hendrix at his finest!

After the break up of the Jimi Hendrix experience Hendrix formed a short-lived group called Band of Gypsys.  This particular album consists of live recordings from various shows in the winter of 1970 about a half a year before he passed away.   This group was able to showcase the next step in Hendrix's musical evolution and sounds very different from the recordings he made with the more rock influenced Experience.  As the last recording released when he was alive this album serves to show Hendrix as a ever evolving musician willing to take a lot of risks with his music.
