This is an album shaped by experience, remembrance, maturity and beautiful songwriting. I was reminded of the feel and care of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, and even Jason Isbell. Guests on the collection include Elvis Costello & Kris Kristofferson on “8 Gods of Harlem” detailing a shooting from multiple points of view, and Colin Meloy (of The Decemberists) on “The Only Thing Worth Fighting For” and “Rabbit Hole”, and Sam Phillips on the title track. The tracks are timely reflecting our current chaotic backdrop but cover the universal concepts of love, loss, mortality.
