At first glance this is a Holmes and Watson gender swapped, women of color, in a near future Washington, D.C. But it’s so much more.

Surgeon Janet Watson is home from the war a changed and angry veteran hellbent on getting a prosthesis to replace the retrofit arm she was given in the field. When the VA (short-staffed and underfunded) waitlists her, she’s determined to wait them out but to do that she needs a job and a place to live. For the latter she is introduced to the maddening Sara Holmes. But it’s Sara that Watson turns to when strange things begin happening at the VA that may include murder, the machinations of big Pharma, and could even affect the coming presidential elections. And the war that is the backdrop to this political mystery is a second civil war, begun in the south after the left and far left wings of the Democratic party band together and win back the presidency post-Trump. Rooted firmly in today’s political climate, it’s a disturbing view of what could happen if America doesn’t get its act together.
