Winterson’s collection of short stories, remembrances, and recipes is lovely. In “Spirit of Christmas” A couple on their way to a holiday cottage encounters the spirit of Christmas—in the form of a little girl trapped in a department store on Christmas eve. “Snowmama” delivers an evening of Christmas magic for a little girl in need of maternal attention. “Dark Christmas,” presents a ghost story set against the holidays. The stories run the gamut of sweet, sad and spooky.
