It’s 6 issues featuring the Darth Vader from that last scene in Rogue One. How can you NOT pick this up?

Written by Kieron Gillen and artwork by Salvador Larroca and Edgar Delgado, this series combines the tragic figure from the prequel movies and the terrifying villain from the originals. It focuses on the time period between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, when Vader is held responsible for the destruction of the Death Star and is trying to work his back into power, while also secretly hunting down the mysterious Force user who keeps eluding him at every turn.

Darth Vader as a character has gone through a lot of different interpretations over the years, and whatever your feelings about them may be, I think most of us can agree that there is a LOT to be explored there. This is probably my favorite of those interpretations so far, and I think much of that is because of how evocative the artwork is. Obviously, Vader is completely hidden by his body armor/life support, but the art is done in such a way to still show the reader what he is thinking/feeling.

My other favorite thing about this comic is the introduction of two new droids. I apparently have a weakness for murderous robots, and I do not feel bad about this in the slightest.
