Black Dove, White Raven

Author Elizabeth Wein has crafted a compelling story with well-developed characters that bring attention to lesser known historical events.  In Black Raven, White Dove friends Emilia and Teo are inseparable, in part due to the close friendship between their mothers, stunt pilots, and their unconventional upbringing.  A tragic accident and the racial prejudices of 1930s America compel a move to Ethiopia.  Danger, adventure, and heartbreak follow as Ethiopia is plunged into war with Italy on the eve of the political unrest that preceded WWII.
